About Us FRONT® (previously StoneCycling®) is an innovative company dedicated to advancing the development, use, and reuse of sustainable, aesthetic building materials. Research Background Over the past few months, research groups from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Utrecht University (UU) have collaborated on the creation of the first version of the FRONT® Sustainability Framework. This framework, inspired by the European Nutri-Score model, aims to provide an easy-to-understand, yet scientifically-based model for assessing the impact of building materials. Using 15 key indicators valued in European policy, materials are analyzed and rated with an A-F score. Your Opportunity to Make an Impact We are seeking ambitious thesis students to contribute to the next version of the FRONT® Sustainability Framework. This research will blend a comprehensive literature review with practical insights from architects and real estate developers who work with building materials. Your work will help refine a framework that will be actively used by FRONT® and our international clients, broadening the complex discussion on the sustainability of materials.
