One of the benefits of sharing an office space with the architects of Studioninedots, is that we can always show our latest developments to their team as soon as they happen.
This is exactly how they learned about our 2Good2Waste range. Here we give new life to our own waste flows in a limited edition product created from discarded clay.
For the new head office and canteen of a Dutch housing corporation with a rich history in the heart of Amsterdam, we’ve incorporated 2Good2Waste brick slips in various ways in the furniture. The product is applied in a stacked bond, showing the stretcher side as well as the thin top side of the brick slip.
A diverse team of people works at the office on bringing together the supply and demand of affordable (social) rental housing in Amsterdam.
The ambition was to strengthen the identity of the company by efficiently consolidating its two offices into the existing premises. Another goal was to improve the building’s connection with the neighbourhood. This theme of ‘connection’ became the starting point for the design.
Central to the project is an open ground floor that hosts the collective social program. The office layout is designed to stimulate social interaction and flexible ways of working.
From the entrance desk to the restaurant and from the meeting space pantry to the cosy café, employees and guests are now daily reminded of the beauty of building with waste. The building, with its natural materials, transparency and plentiful daylight and greenery promotes an atmosphere of wellbeing.
At FRONT®, we’re always looking for ways to optimise our production process and minimise our environmental impact.
For instance, we produce many different products each year and there is always some transition in the recipe that we cannot use for a specific project.
In order to save unused material from ending up in the landfill, we’ve collected all ‘leftovers’ and developed a special limited edition product, which we call 2Good2Waste.
Because it cannot be remade, the 2Good2Waste is truly unique. At the same time, it maintains the same high quality as our regular range of WasteBasedBricks.
For this specific project, we’ve used different ‘seasonal’ colour nuances from our entire 2Good2Waste collection.
The 5000 m² office space, restaurant, Lab and garden of this project received a “BREEAM-NL In-use: Excellent” certificate and was completed on May 21st, 2021.
A nuance of reds and browns, made from 100% recycled waste that is coming from the factory's own production.
